The Sharon L. Bassett Foundation helps families in Illinois and Indiana that are living with breast cancer. The Foundation began as a small fund in 2001 to honor an amazing woman who, while battling breast cancer herself, stopped at nothing to help others as they also lived with breast cancer. In early 2008, the Sharon L. Bassett Fund became the Sharon L. Bassett Foundation, a recognized 501(c) 3 organization.

Family Project - We provide critical assistance to families living with breast cancer. The family receives our signature gift basket and a personal call or visit from a volunteer. Then the magic begins. We take the time to learn what this family needs and do everything possible to make their dreams come true. Our gifts have included things like: utilities paid for one year, transportation costs, groceries, Christmas gifts for the children, prescription costs, wigs, trips of a lifetime, and gift certificates for special dinners to name a few.
Research - We are proud to support breast cancer research occurring in the Indianapolis area.
The Sharon L. Bassett Foundation hosts an annual Jimmy Buffett-themed party each year in June and enlists the help of friends who play for the Indianapolis Colts.
One of our most remarkable annual events is "Pay it Forward". Volunteers take the names of extraordinary women and men who are living with breast cancer. Each volunteer is given a substantial cash gift and told to use their creativity to "Pay it Forward" for the woman with breast cancer. Volunteers enlist the help of businesses, family and friends and every year have more than TRIPLED the initial investment. The volunteers made dreams a reality for people who are in the fight of their lives.
To date, the Sharon L. Bassett Foundation has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to help families dealing with breast cancer. Hundreds of women and men, along with their families, have been helped by Sharon's vision and the generosity of businesses and individuals. |
